growing up costs a lot.

We did something huge.

Me and Stevey feel like grown-ups now.

We bought a car.

This car.

Yes, this ORANGE CAR! AHHHH!!!!! It's orange! That's my favorite aspect. We'll stick out like a sore thumb in parking lots. With our old car we could always find it because of the Laker's sticker on the back and the dent in the front. Now the color will give our car away.

It's a 2007 Chevy Aveo with only 60,000 miles. We went to this memorial day tent sale in Sandy for the Larry H. Miller companies looking for a particular hyundai elantra we saw they had. We also looked into Hondas and Toyotas beforehand so we could be ready to wheel and deal with these salesman people. We were hoping for something around 100,000 miles or so. Well we got there and our elantra had been sold. So we looked around a little more, test drove a Stratus, then talked the guy down on the price limit we were looking for. Most of the cars there were WAY over what we wanted to pay, but he said he'd check and see if there were any in our arena. He came back out of the office and said follow me and walked up to this little fireball and my heart leaped a little inside. :)

It's a manual, which we both love, and pretty standard for a little sedan car. We kept trying to push the price down and they kept wanting us to buy it so we ended up getting a good deal. and free oil changes. And tickets to the bees game. and donuts. and movie tickets and dinner vouchers.
They really wanted to sell this car. And we really wanted to milk it for the free perks. :)
Luckily the guy selling it to us wasn't paid on commission, he was just about numbers and getting the cars out of there, so I feel like we got a pretty good deal for a really healthy, low mileage, safe, dependable, awesome gas mileage, highly guaranteed (we got some sweet long term warranties), really cute car.

It's just scary to sign all those papers and it feels so binding! Ah! That's what growing up is about though I guess. We get to try to make smart decisions about buying cars. and I think we did. It's weird cause it's totally not what we expected to find, and it was a little more than we were looking for, but we feel like it's going to last us through med school and beyond and it was a worthwhile investment. And just to console Stevey we'll probably have to get a new Lakers decal sticker for the back windshield (like we had on our old car). We all have to make sacrifices I guess. Stupid Lakers.

But what a sweet car. Welcome to the family little orange friend. :)

Happy Things

Be it the rain, be it a lack of a balanced diet, or be it hormones, sometimes you just feel poopy. And I feel that poopy times call for drastic measures.

The drastic measure I wish to take here is simply this: I would like to just make a list (ooh I love lists if you didn't know) or a conglomeration of happy things. Things that are pretty, or happy, or lovely, or exciting. It shall be in picture form mostly, and my hopes are that if you are feeling the rainy day blues you will look at this list and feel a little sunshine in your soul.

Pictures of California!

Ok, here is a little snippet of our trip to California! I struggle with this blogging thing so they are in totally random order. I wrote all about it in that last post, but couldn't figure out how to include the pics, so here they are. California is a beautiful place!

David and Jessica and their wedding party taking some pretty pictures outside the reception center. Sorry, it's kinda hard to see much in this pic.

They had the cutest dessert table ever!

Hello. This is Me and Stevey.

Our final goodbye with our Nissan. It helped us out a lot, but I guess every car has it's time.

All the groomsmen looked great in their pink striped ties and hot pink argyle socks!

The Newport Beach Temple. It was so beautiful and perfect weather!

Oh we're just sittin on some rocks at Newport Beach. We saw a bunch of little crabs crawling around down in the cracks.

I love writing things in the sand. And I loved that we were both wearing sandals.

Steve on the Beach-His heart feels at home. He is such a California Boy.

We stopped by Downtown Disney! We didn't go to actual Disneyland, but just enjoyed looking around the shops.

Rattlers. Any place that serves their drinks out of Mason jars and decorates with cowboy boots is my kind of place!

Steve was so happy to be here. It's his all time favorite restaurant ever.

This was outside the Hotel in Vegas. I was so happy to be around palm trees!!! woooo!!!!

Ok so when our car died and we had called and were waiting for the tow truck steve decided to use the time to study (The MCAT was in 2 days). See how dedicated he is? I just drew cool designs in the foggy windows (since it was raining outside). I'm much less studious I think.
