The Hierarchy of Trail Mix


At work today, there was some trail mix we were all delightfully partaking of. This sparked a thought...there is a definite hierarchy to trail mix. Some parts are just better than others. Sure you may say you are unbiased and that you take an entire handful and eat the whole thing equally...but I know you are lying. No one does that. I doubt Ghandi even does that. So put away your little equality shpeil and come explore trail mix with me! (imagine a theme song ending that sounds similar to reading rainbow...)

Most Delicious to Grossest
  • M&M's. Always the first to be picked out.
  • Chocolate covered raisins- but only because they are covered in chocolate..raisins will come in later.
  • any dried fruit included
  • the little bread rods
  • goldfish
  • bagel chips...I don't think anyone really enjoys them that much, they just look so intriguing and curious that you want to see what their texture tastes like.
  • cashews or nuts. if there are not cashews though then the nuts goes down a level, cause cashews are the pride and joy of the "mixed nuts" label.
  • pretzels. they are generally delicious, but so ordinary that you get distracted by all the other things in the mix that you procrastinate them until you are done exploring the other options.
  • the random little shapes that you really don't know what they are, but you aren't ready to take on the raisins yet, so you eat these 'randoms' first, hoping that the mystery will be solved as to what they are.
  • raisins. honestly, I think they just throw those in so that it seems healthy. who really even likes raisins? they are a contaminate to the rest of the mix. I would vote they be taken out, but trail mix isn't the same without their little flair. It makes you appreciate the other pieces.
  • craisins. gahh. the only thing lower on the scale than raisins is craisins. cranberries are ridiculous, but dried cranberries are absurd.

  1. Kellie you need a life, go find a husband, but raisins the lowest and craisins? You have got to be joking me, it is the nuts that can go, the nuts are in there tot try and make the trail mix healthy because of the protein that the nuts have. Kellie tell your work friends that they need to get you hooked on raisins, it isn't worth it to have raisins are the lowest. One of the best things ever in the world.

  2. I'm with you on the M&M's and the chocolate covered raisins, but I totally disagree on plain raisins. I eat them by the handful every day! They are healthy and delicious.
